Guarana Explained, With Cautions
Guarana is a caffeine source. If you use a product with it, you need a running total.
What it is
Guarana is a seed from a plant native to the Amazon. It is naturally high in caffeine.
How it counts
The caffeine from guarana adds to coffee, tea and energy drinks. The FDA says about 400 mg a day is not generally associated with negative effects for most healthy adults.
Possible effects
In sensitive people, too much caffeine can cause jitters, trouble sleeping, stomach upset or a fast heartbeat.
Who should be careful
People with heart conditions, high blood pressure, anxiety or sleep problems, and anyone pregnant, nursing or under 18, should talk to a doctor first.
MeltCore
